I would like to thank all my supporters who gave me invaluable help, encouragement and yes, sometimes constructive criticism, throughout the Campaign.
Unfortunately national events beyond my control snatch defeat from the jaws of victory !
I would congratulate my Conservative colleagues who are elected.

I would also like to publically thank the Parties excellent Regional Director – Mr Paul Bolton, a true professional and also Sir Graham Bright, the Regional Chairman. Both gave much of their time and commitment not only in the Campaign but in the 18 months or so run up to it.
I wanted to get these results posted as soon as possible, there will be much considered analysis of the results both in the East of England and across the Country as a whole in the next few days and weeks.
