John is a Property Professional with 30 years experience building small & medium sized businesses in East Anglia.

He has up to date experience of the responsibilities and frustrations of being an employer. He is used to battling unnecessary Government red tape that so often stems from rules made in Brussels but "gold plated" in the U.K.

Currently – Director of the Commercial property investment Company he started in 1983. This is only a part time commitment now, leaving John free to campaign virtually full time for the team throughout the Eastern Counties.

2002 - 2007 Joint Partner in a Norfolk based property investment partnership.

1985 -1991 He was the joint founder of three other “start-up” businesses in East Anglia, together creating over 100 new jobs. He sold these businesses, which still successfully trade today.

1975-1983 Chartered Surveyor’s practice rising to junior partner.

POLITICAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Eastern Region Chairman 2003-2006. Worked with MEP’s, Area and Constituency officers. Visited most Associations & helped directly with campaigning in dozens of seats.

2004 Euro Election: As Regional Chairman he worked full time supporting our team of Candidates and earned a personal "highly capable" commendation in the East Anglia Daily Times (15/6/04) from Political Editor Graham Dines.

1999 Euro Election: Fought the London Region and gained invaluable insight into the necessity to work as a team.

1994 Euro Election: Candidate for Northumbria – achieved best % result for the Party in the U.K. In this predominantly rural seat he used a sound “Euro realist” message to motivate Conservatives to actually bother to vote.

2007 Local Elections: Agent for both Norwich City Council seats & Broadland District Council seats (20 Candidates in total) We increased our number of seats.

25+ Years record of loyal Party service, including serving as Association & Area Chairman. Also General Election Agent & Council Election Agent on five occasions.

VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY WORK

Magistrate (Since 1988 – youngest in County when appointed) Court Chairman since 1994.

Tribunal Member (Rating & Valuation appeals) since 1993. Chairman since 2001.

Housing Association Chairman: - Greenfields Community Housing Association since 2005. We took ownership of 8,000+ low cost rented homes from Braintree Council in Nov 07 and are investing £80M in improvements. He resigned from this commitment to concentrate on campaigning virtually full time in Eastern Region.

OTHER INTERESTS

He holds a Private Pilots Licence gained at Cranfield in Bedfordshire, and regularly flies a Cessna 172.

He is a founding member of The Countryside Alliance

He actively support a number of charities including The RMBI. and is a member of the CLA & NFU.

He also very much enjoys cooking for pleasure and makes a really memorable curry !
